Divine Mercy Parish is searching for an energetic, organized and inspired candidate to serve as Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) of the parish.  The CRE would be supervised by and work closely with the Director of Mission to provide administrative and creative leadership of programs serving children, youth and families, creating a supportive, safe and loving environment for continued learning and growth in faith.  The CRE would be a member of the Divine Mercy Parish Staff at the service of the Pastor and the Mission of the Catholic Church.  Areas of specific leadership (or co-leadership) would include the programs for children and youth and Sacramental Preparation of the parish. 

 

Qualifications:  CRE must be active and participating Catholic and with knowledge of Catholic Faith and Sacraments.  Must be able to participate in continued learning and advancement for personal growth in spirituality and faith.   Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.  Formal Catholic Education and experience in Catechetical Ministry or Religious Education is a plus.  Ability for successful and effective written and verbal communication is important. Experience or ability to learn effective use of media and digital communication in both formation methods and communication is required.  All candidates must have or be able to complete all requirements in the area of child safety and protection as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the State of Maryland.

 

Expectations:   Currently, the position provides for 15 hours/week and would include Sunday morning supervision of Religious Education program at St. Joseph, some weekday hours with parish staff with work space located in Frostburg.  Some remote work from home would be possible.   With some limits, flexibility of schedule is an advantage offered in this position.   Occasional travel to our 4 different church sites as well as travel to meetings and formation would be expected with travel expenses for extra events outside of regular work time reimbursed by the parish. 

 

Responsibilities would include:

        

  •          Oversee and maintain registration process and permanent records for Religious Education
  •          Organize and Provide support materials and resources for education programs
  •          Develop and maintain healthy communication with all volunteers in Catechetical Ministry as well as families and parishioners involved in programs
  •          Develop the yearly Religious Education Program schedule in collaboration with parish staff, ensuring appropriate scheduling of facilities and volunteers
  •          Collaboratively work to maintain appropriate environments for spiritual and catechetical growth
  •          Continual Evaluation of program for effectiveness and strength to ensure continued improvement       
  •          Clerical and administrative assistance with task related to Catechetical Ministry or general Parish ministry
